I’m sorry, I lied. I said SoCal plants don’t change color for fall. But will you look at all that yellow! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw these blooms yesterday. So beautiful I had to stop and do a quick photoshoot. I just so happened to be perfectly dressed for it, in my floral frock and crown. You’d think it was summer, if I weren’t also wearing tights and boots. Fall flowers are just another oddity of this incredibly warm season we’re having. So far, my decision to dress for the cold has not had any significant effect on the weather. But I’m not giving up. It was mildly overcast yesterday! We’ll see how the week goes.

Fall-ow the Leader

Ah, what a weekend! I hope everyone had a great Halloween! I sure did. It was so much fun in fact that I didn’t document a thing. Woops. One exciting thing that went undocumented, was it rained! Finally! We haven’t had a significant rainstorm in LA since April. But on Halloween night we got some much needed doom and gloom, and it was refreshing. The weather has stayed cooler since, allowing me to bust out some fall pieces from my closet. YES!

I’m loving this navy skirt I just snagged from ModCloth. It’s fuzzy and unfortunately attracts my cat’s white fur like no other, but I dont even care the shape is so absolutely fabulous! If it came in other colors I’d own every last one of them. Your move, ModCloth. #doit. I think these BAIT mustard pumps were made for navy... and maroon for that matter. Probably my three favorite fall hues. It’s still not cool enough for daytime knee socks or jackets otherwise you’d definitely see some maroon in this look. The best is yet to come.

Scaredy Cat

Today I’m thrilled to introduce my newest obsession, eShakti- an ecommerce company that’s revolutionizing style and fit. When shopping for clothes, I tend to have this problem, now tell me if you’ve heard this story before. I rock a smaller chest with a fuller bottom half, average torso and I’m somewhat short. More often than not, I’ll find things that sort of fit. Maybe a dress will fit perfectly at the waist but be humongous in the chest. Story of my life. Apparently there isn’t one universal body type out there. Say what?! This can be super frustrating when shopping for clothes, especially online. Enter eShakti.

eShakti honors the fact that each and every one of us is unique. That’s why they offer style and fit customization to all women sizes 0-36. Yes. You can actually have a dress made for you- to your exact measurements. And It won’t cost an arm and a leg! You can even alter parts of the dress like the neckline, sleeve length and skirt length. The dress I’m wearing today was custom tailored to my measurements, and it really feels that way. I was also able to shorten the skirt so it wasn’t too long, eliminating another common problem I face with regular sizes. Is that not the coolest thing you’ve ever heard? Wait. It gets better. I've got a Halloween treat for you! Use the code PAINTTHEGOWNRED to get 10% OFF unlimited purchases between now and 11/28/2014. That’s on top of a $25 coupon they’ll give you just for signing up. Ok. I’m done. I just get a little excited when I find someone doing something so awesome in the fashion industry. There is no such thing as a standard size. Finally, a company that gets it.

Hey Punkin

Hey Punkin- Paint the Gown Red

Howdy friends! Was everyone able to catch my guest post on The Flying Clubhouse Monday? If so, today’s post might look a little familiar…but it’s not the same! Though this is the same pumpkin patch photoshoot, these are different photos then the ones I posted Monday. (mostly) So if you wanna see the whole entire pumpkin enchilada, pop on over to The Flying Clubhouse!

It was very sunny when I took these photos, which is half of the reason why I spent most of the shoot hiding under my floppy hat. The other half is the simple fact that hiding under a floppy hat is a really fun thing to do. It’s a bit like when you’re a kid and theorize that if you can’t see anyone, they can’t see you. Floppy hats are invisible capes for stylish grownups. If you don’t already own a hat of floppy proportions, you probably should.

It’s somewhat rare to find a dress that is both cute and comfortable. A dress that you could wear snuggled up on the couch with kittens or pair with pumps and a bold lip for a night of dancing. Ladies and gentlemen, this is that dress. It is my new favorite dress and I intend to live in it. In fact, I’m keeping track of who has seen me in it to maximize the days I can wear it. You’re totally allowed to wear a dress two days in a row if you’re seeing different people, right? Right. It’s also perfect for this never-ending California heat wave because it’s oh so light and breezy. One day I might be lucky enough to pair this frock with some mauve tights and camel boots. But not today. Today, I wouldn’t dare put anything on my legs for fear that they’d melt off. Side note, how great is this wall I just discovered? Another favorite. I'm quite sure you'll see him again.
