About Me

Oh Hi Ojai

For those of you who had yesterday off, I hope you had a lovely long weekend! I sure did. Though most of our time was spent packing and getting ready for the move, Saturday we took a daycation to Ojai. These were shot that afternoon at the cutest little winery. It was a perfect day with sunny blue skies and warm breezes. It honestly felt like summer. It was just what we needed to balance out the stress of moving. Which, by the way, is happening this weekend. What? Thankfully after the long weekend we’re 90% done packing so I’m mainly just anxious to get the keys, unpack and decorate a new space. Saturday can’t come soon enough!

Get Down Tonight

Honey I’m home! Actually I’m still in Denver. But I’m back on this little ‘ol blog of mine, and I’ve got a week of awesome posts lined up for you. Did everyone have a nice holiday? I sure did! Sigh. It’s always bittersweet when the season comes to an end. Wait, what am I talking about? The holidays aren’t over yet. We still have New Years!

This is what I’ll be wearing when the clock strikes midnight- the most perfect navy and gold ModCloth dress in the world. I wore it on my birthday last year and man, was it made for dancing. I wish I had some gold pumps to match, but I just couldn't find a pair that fit right. My New Years Eve shoes need to be somewhat comfortable or else I’ll take them off and wander the streets barefoot. Not a very good idea in snowy Denver. Or anywhere, for that matter.

My favorite part of the whole outfit is that disco ball crown! Can’t wait to get down in that crown! I firmly believe you have to wear something gold and sparkly on your head on New Years Eve. It’s a rule...A golden rule. So for those of you who haven’t figured out your headdress, gold disco balls are the way to go. Stay tuned for the full tutorial coming tomorrow.

#HappyHolidays

#HappyHolidays- Paint the Gown Red

Someone once asked me, are those hashtags on your dress? Well, I certainly never thought so. See, I was possibly the last person on the planet to accept and use hashtags. At first, I hated them. I thought they were spammy and fake. I wanted all my followers to find me organically... or not at all! But after many debates with people I respect, my view of the # has somewhat changed. I think it’s possible for hashtags to be a real positive way for people to discover content they might otherwise never see. There are a lot of potential drawbacks, but for now I’m focusing on the good! So I use them. #HappyHolidays from me and my dress. I’m curious, what’s your view of the #? Love, hate or a little bit of both?

What a crazy awesome week! Today our very merry Pom Pom Christmas party comes to an end. Though, I sincerely hope you continue to deck the halls with poms for the rest of the season and well into the new year! I had such a blast making ornaments, garland, gift toppers, letters and cookies with you. Last but not least, today I’m sharing a festive pom pom ugly Christmas sweater look. We shot this in a very windy Joshua Tree last weekend. Nick and I met his family up there for Thanksgiving. Yes, I shot Christmas photos on Thanksgiving.

I really love this outfit. It’s ridiculous, but it works because it’s Christmas. Right? I made the pom pom sweater by simply gluing mini poms onto a thrifted sweater with fabric glue. It was super easy and looks pretty darn adorable. Of course I lugged my giant diy pom pom garland to the desert with me. You can never have too many props. The rest of the outfit is made up of some of my favorite vintage pieces. Welp, thats a wrap! Merry pom pom christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Plymouth Rocks!

Plymouth Rocks! - Paint the Gown Red

Thanksgiving week is upon us! To start the feast-ivities off right, today I’m sharing a modern Settler look. You might not realize this, but Settlers we’re pretty stylish. Maybe not in an obvious way, but let’s take a closer look. There are at least three elements rocked by early Pilgrims that you would totally see on today’s runway- Collars, buckle shoes and wide brimmed hats. Even the pilgrim dress is salvageable, hemmed a few inches. See what I’m saying? Those Pilgrims weren’t just discovering the new world. oh no! They were discovering fashion. Thanks guys.
