Paper Airplane Cake Toppers

Paper Airplane Cake Toppers- Paint the Gown Red

Good morning friends! Hope your week is off to a great start. I’m still having some trouble focusing. Seems my head is up in the clouds... dreaming of weddings! Can ya blame me? So, in the spirit of goofing off, I decided to put together a little paper airplane cake topper. For this project I got to test out JAM Paper products. I love how the paper gives off a subtle shine and the heavier weight made for some durable paper airplanes. One nose dive won’t stop these bad boys! So, if you’re like me and in need of some daydreaming, jet-setting or good old fashioned fun, then grab a piece of paper and meet me in the clouds!

Materials

Directions

Gather materials. Cut paper into 4”x 3” pieces. Fold your favorite paper airplane. Repeat until you have 3-4 airplanes of different colors. You can also make them different sizes to add diversity. Attach airplanes to bbq skewers, at varying angles, using tape. Create a cloud out of batting and tape to a bbq skewer. Top cake. Enjoy!

We’re seeing family and friends and it’s going to be fun fun fun! But I’m also really looking forward to some calm alone time with my new fiance. The past two weeks have been crazy. We went on our road trip, nick proposed, we celebrated in NorCal with my soon to be in-laws, got home late Sunday night and then immediately went back to work. So I ‘m excited to spend a whole day just the two of us, enjoying this new chapter in our lives. Our kitties can come too. Happy weekend from the happy couple!

Yep. On the last night of our Oregon road trip, at sunset in a treehouse, Nick proposed! We’re ENGAGED!!!! Ahhhh! It’s totally surreal and wonderful and I still can’t believe it actually happened! IN A TREEHOUSE! So if you were wondering why things have been a little quiet around here, now you know why. I mean, how am I supposed to get anything done now? SERIOUSLY?!

This is the treehouse where it all happened. A wooden octagon, 50 feet off the ground, supported by a large tree whose trunk ran through the middle of the room. It’s name- Treezebo. The windows all rolled up and we watched birds and butterflies fly between branches. Then he got down on one knee. I cried, screamed out those windows and cried some more. I’m the happiest luckiest gal in the world and can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this fella. Our Oregon road trip was an amazing adventure, but the best is yet to come!

We’re back! And what a wild and crazy adventure it was! Together, Nick and I journeyed 2500 miles around the Pacific Northwest, stopping in 7 cities in 10 days. Dunsmuir, Bend, Portland, Yachats, Cave Junction, Napa, Healdsburg. (and that’s not counting the towns we stopped at in between) We drove along volcanos, lakes, rivers and coastline through countryside, forests, mountains, vineyards, fog, snow and fire. We hiked Crater Lake, Smith Rock and Multnomah Falls, biked through Bend and Portland, saw Mt. Shasta, Mt Hood, Tillamook, Heceta Head Lighthouse, Haystack Rock, sneaker waves, and a pack of wild elk.

We drank craft beer from famous breweries and wine from Napa. We ate excellent food from all over and somehow didn’t explode. Not even after Portland’s schnitzelwich. We slept in a red vintage train car, at a railroad resort. We saw the sun set over the ocean and rise over treetops. Every day we took the scenic route, stopping whenever and wherever we wanted. It was the best adventure we’ve taken yet and it had a pretty incredible grand finale... Stay tuned for some big exciting news, coming tomorrow! Happy to be home!

Fave Five: Cotton Candy Treats

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another fave five! Lately I’ve been noticing cotton candy everywhere. And not just in it’s traditional form. Bloggers are taking the summer treat to a whole new amazing level. There’s cotton candy spiked with alcohol, affogatos, donut sandwiches, ice cream and cocktails! I definitely need to get on board the sugar train and come up with some creative new use for the pastel treat, and quick. It's the last few days of our road trip and I can’t wait to share all the pictures with you soon. Happy weekend! Stay tuned!
