Today I’m introducing a new feature to the blog called, Ladies Who Brunch. Technically I started it over a year ago with this post, I just didn’t know it yet. The pretty faces you see here are some of my closest friends. We’re all busy girl bosses who live across town from one another. Well, I live across town from them. Conflicting schedules and LA traffic has made getting together challenging. So we’ve started having regular weekend brunch dates to ensure we spend some quality time together. Basically we get dressed up, drink mimosas, eat really good food and gossip about our menfolk. If it sounds very cliche and Sex and the City, that’s because it is. And it’s awesome. Here’s hoping you like brunch as much as we do!

With this feature I intend to give you a guide to some of the best brunch spots in Los Angeles. Today you’re looking at Sunny Spot in Venice. On a Saturday afternoon the place was packed. Even with a reservation, we waited half an hour to be seated on the patio (the best spot) but were able to pass the time with bottomless mimosas from the bar. The restaurant is known for it’s Caribbean feel. Having recently returned from Jamaica I can attest to that. The crowd was energetic, sunburn and a little bit tipsy. The patio was perfect- painted orange, yellow and turquoise and scattered with citrus patterned pillows. Between the five of us we only ordered two different dishes- Ropa Vieja and the Roasted Veggie Omelette. FYI ropa vieja is a type of soup. Don’t judge, but none of us knew that. It was a little strange sipping mimosas and soup together but that was my bad. Regardless, both dishes were delicious and I can’t wait to explore their menu further. All and all Sunny Spot was the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon and kick off Ladies Who Brunch. Till next time!
