About Me

DIY Pom Pom Letter Ornaments

Making your own pom poms is super fun, but sometimes it’s nice to just buy ‘em. There’s no shame in crafting with store bought pom poms. In fact, some crafts require it! This is one of those crafts. These DIY Pom Pom Letter Ornaments use the teeniest of poms. Can you imagine trying to make yarn poms this size?! You’d have to be an elf. Sadly, I am not.

DIY Pom Pom Letter Ornaments - Paint the Gown Red

The great thing about these ornaments is the endless possibilities! You can spell out anything you want! I went ultra traditional and to the point, but you can write holiday phrases, secrets, wishes or gift people their initials. Hang them from your tree, holiday garland, Minora or on your best friends back when their not looking! Nothing says awesome like pom pom letter ornaments...that actually say awesome.

Materials

  • Pom Poms
  • Construction paper
  • Letter Stencils
  • Scissors
  • Pen
  • Hot Glue
  • Paper Clips

Directions

Gather materials. Decide on your phrase! (This might be the most difficult and time consuming step). Using a stencil trace your letters onto construction paper. Cut out letters. Hot glue pom poms onto construction paper. The more you smush them together the better it will look. Completely cover letter with pom poms. Now, if you’re super OCD (like me) turn your letter over and trim off the areas of construction paper still visible from the front. Open up a paper clip and glue to the back of your letter. Continue process until you’ve pom pomed all of your letters. Hang and enjoy!
