We’re back from Yosemite! Did I forget to mention we were leaving? It was just a quickie weekend getaway to one of the most beautiful places on earth. We stayed in a gorgeous Chalet inside the park with forest views all around us. Every morning we sipped our coffee on our balcony and let the caffeine and crisp mountain air wake us. After a big pancake breakfast, we’d head out to the valley floor to hike the day away.
Saturday was our longest hiking day and possibly hardest workout of my life. We had read about the most beautiful hike in the Sierras in Sunset Magazine and decided to do it. If it’s in Sunset, how hard could it be? Hard. Very very hard. Sunset magazine led us astray. Either that or we got lost. We totaled 13 miles that day and my muscles have yet to recover. I feel like I’m back at soccer camp where we all tied bags of ice to our calves and couldn’t get out of bed in the morning without falling over. All the Tiger’s Balm in the world couldn’t save me. On the plus side, it feels like we were hiking for a week, so we definitely got the most out of our limited time in Yosemite.
These are some of my favorite photos from the park. I got to see changing leaves, giant pinecones and the coolest lime moss ever. Though we hiked to some of the big bad waterfalls, I was already losing steam at that point and didn’t snap any awe-inspiring photos. Plus there were dozens of tourists. You can't see it, but to take that one shot of Vernal Falls Nick and I held up a huge line of angry, tired people. Thankfully most of our hike was off the beaten path- just us and the forest. It was lovely! Here’s hoping you had an equally exciting weekend. Now please excuse me while I plop my limbs in a bucket of ice.
